Polyglot Theatre Production Residency

Polyglot Theatre is seeking Expressions of Interest to participate in a two-week paid production residency from 31 May - 10 June 2022. The production residency is an opportunity to experience the Polyglot creative process in action, and gain a deeper understanding of what is involved in developing a new, participatory show for families. It will take place during a creative development for our new work, Pram People, which is aimed at both the young children who ride in prams and their parents or carers.

The production residency supports Polyglot’s aim to increase the accessibility and inclusivity of our practice and the representation of underrepresented communities, including First Nations people, people who are D/deaf and/or Disabled, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) backgrounds and people who identify as LGBTQIA+. Polyglot participated in the Fair Play program delivered by Diversity Arts Australia in 2020-21, and is committed to increasing the diversity of our staff, artists, Board and audiences through consultation, training, building sustained relationships and creating pathways to involvement.

About the opportunity
Polyglot is offering an opportunity for an emerging theatre maker to participate in all areas of production over two weeks of creative development. Working with leading industry artists, you will gain experience in:

Stage management
Set design
Sound design
Producing; as well as
Specific production skills for creating immersive and participatory theatre

(Please note that while every endeavour is made to include the secondee in practical tasks and discussions during rehearsals, some stages of the process may be observation only.)

This is an opportunity to experience a new Polyglot work in creation, offering insight into what is involved behind the scenes to make a new work for children and families.

This is a paid residency at the weekly fee of $882 (LPA Level 2 for production staff).
