DVA aims to dissolve prejudices towards those with intellectual disability through its public performances, which encourage audience participation and visibility of people with intellectual disability in public spaces. DVA is always open to new members and has no selection process based on audition.

The Artistic Director, Assistant Director and volunteers are highly experienced in providing a range of supports and formats to maximise all members' participation in a high caliber accessible and inclusive theatre company. People requiring one-on-one support can attend with their own support worker or carer. The venue also has an accessible toilet with a hoist.
