Presented and supported by Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria

In the forest, tiny worlds meet giant worlds. Our imaginations breathe and our senses awaken. Listen. How does the forest call to you?

Forest is a brand-new immersive show set among the rustling trees of a real forest. In this bold production, children aged 4-10 and their families are invited to explore our connection to forests, and the creatures and characters within. Together with Polyglot performers, rediscover the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne bushland, creating and playing in the wild spaces between the trees.

Featuring design that delights and surprises, and a captivating musical composition guiding the journey, Forest is a wondrous celebration of ecosystems and possibility.

Event Access

Cranbourne Gardens is open from 9am-5pm with last entry at 4:30pm. The Visitor Centre is open 9am-4:30pm.

Forest performances will take place outdoors, off-path, in a conservation area. We create and play with respect for the natural spaces we are in, and the plants, insects and animals who live there.

Please wear closed-toe shoes and full-length pants, and bring sunscreen, hats, raincoats and water bottles. Shoes and pants will keep you and your children safe from any critters that call the forest home.

There may be uneven ground surfaces, and unexpected weather conditions (sun, rain, wind).

You choose how you interact with the performers and the space. You can move around as you like.

You can take time out from the performance if needed, RBGV staff are there to assist.

Forest does not use bright or flashing lights. It incorporates music and sound that is played through portable speakers.

There are all-gender accessible bathrooms, and gendered bathrooms in the Visitor Centre and the Woodland Picnic Area.

No dogs and other animals are allowed at Cranbourne Gardens at any time, unless they are trained and registered service animals.

For more accessibility information, please visit rbg.vic.gov.au/cranbourne-gardens/accessibility

In Forest, children are experts and we follow their lead. Adult family members support their children to participate in the experience.
