Edith Aldridge is the youngest woman to be elected leader of her country. In a lush presidential suite in a heritage listed hotel, she has just ninety minutes to get ready for the biggest day of her life. Enter Rosie, a twenty-two year old makeup artist from the David Jones counter, sent to help Edith get camera ready. In Rosie’s capable hands, this morning will be a breeze. So long as they both stick to the brief.
Sheehan's astute and entertaining script challenges the trivialisation of beauty therapy, exploring the role that makeup and fashion play in how we perceive and receive women in power.
Friday 25th Aug is an Auslan Interpreted performance with our partners at Auslan Stage Left.
"Sheehan’s voice is sparkling fresh, and urgently of the now."

Event Access
Red Stitch is partnering with Auslan Stage Left to offer Auslan-interpreted performances. The next Auslan-interpreted performance is Monument on Friday 25th August. Interpreters will stand on the left side of the stage. The first three rows in front of the interpreters will be kept empty for the best possible vision from the rest of the theatre. Auslan Stage Left do recommend sitting directly in front of interpreters for the best overall vision. For any further questions please contact our box office.
Venue Access
Our seating is in line with Victoria’s current health & safety guidelines for seated indoor entertainment venues at the time of performance. Being an already small venue and with our capacity for each performance slightly limited in line with the current guidelines, we encourage you to book early to avoid any disappointment. In line with the current guidelines, we are able to seat up to 100% capacity (81 seats) but have removed the front row for accessible seating only, to create a suggested distance between performers and audience members.
If you require floor-level or accessible seating in the front row, please email us at boxoffice@redstitch.net or call us on 9533 8083 and we will do our best to accommodate you.
