Winner Edinburgh Comedy Awards Best Newcomer 2022

Australian Premiere

Lara’s a small Latin American girl (woman?) who won the 2021 Funny Women Stage Award (right, ‘woman’) and is now doing a show about what it’s like to be Latin and deaf and a girl who’s now a woman at the same time. You know, minority jokes for majority crowds.

Lara 'passes' as white, and able-bodied, and sometimes, even as a woman. And if you pass as everything, what does that mean about who you really are? GRL/LATNX/DEF is a show that is sort of about identity and sort of about the absurdity of putting yourself in boxes… when no one is asking you to.

‘Lara Ricote is seemingly blessed with funny bones. ★★★★’ Fest Mag

'One word for Lara Ricote: Wow!... An electric presence. ★★★★' Chortle (UK)
