Our 2nd exhibition opening this month comes in the form of Peter & Paul In Print! The outcome of a first time partnership between Studio A and Hazelhurst Arts Centre, 7 March - 3 May.
Hazelhurst Arts Centre supported Studio A artist Peter Dudding to work alongside long time collaborator artist Paull Williams to undertake a three month printmaking residency.
Master printmaker Matthew Ablitt guided the print residency by introducing Peter Dudding and Paul Williams to techniques that were sympathetic to their painting and drawing practices. Monoprinting and etching allowed them to take what they know about their chosen mediums and adapt that to a series of prints that captured the immediacy of mark making, intensity of colour and intuitive flare of line work that is typical of their individual styles.
Reflecting on the residency Peter Dudding explained "I liked printmaking and watching and learning about art making with Paul...My favourite song from the studio time was Morning Train by Sheena Easton".
The Hazelhurst carpark, accessed from the Kingsway, contains three disabled parking spaces. All areas within the Hazelhurst building are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair accessible bathrooms are located at the eastern end of the Regional Gallery Foyer and the southern end of the Community Gallery. Both of these bathrooms contain fold-down baby change tables. One wheelchair is available for use by the general public - please phone administration on 85365700 to confirm availability. All galleries, studios, the Hazelhurst theatrette and bathrooms are marked with visual and braille signage.
