Merrigong Theatre Company presents Wollongong’s first Shakespeare in the Garden – A Midsummer Night’s Dream; an enthralling open-air performance in the Wollongong Botanic Garden from 9th to 26th November.

This brand-new production brings together some of the country’s finest actors and designers with a stellar cast of musicians and artists from across the Illawarra to create a unique, joy-filled, and enchanting theatrical experience.

Pack your rug and picnic, gather your family, or group of friends, and join us as the sunsets where Shakespeare’s most enigmatic work comes to life in a breathtaking outdoor production full of music, magic, and mirth.

Venue Access

Parking: The closest carparks to the event are P1 – Short Term Parking and P8 – Unicentre Carpark, which are a short 500m (approx. 7min) walk to the event location. There is limited street parking along Madoline Street, Northfields Avenue and nearby streets. Please plan ahead and allow plenty of time for parking.

Public Transport: The free Gong Shuttle Bus makes it easy to reach the Botanic Garden. The service operates between 7am and 10pm from Monday to Friday. Every 10 minutes during peak (7am – 9pm & 3pm – 6pm) and every 20 minutes off-peak. The weekend service operates every 20 minutes between 8am and 6pm. The Gong Shuttle is wheelchair accessible. The closest train station to the event is North Wollongong. Plan your trip via the Transport NSW website.

Seating: Attendees will enter from the Madoline Street P2 carpark entry and make their way along the footpath to the allocated seating zone on the Turpentine Lawn. As this is an outdoor event, we encourage patrons to BYO their own picnic rugs.

A dedicated accessibility vehicle drop off point will be provided in the western section of the Wollongong Botanic Garden’s P2 carpark off Madoline Street for patrons. Pre-booked accessible parking spaces will be available for the event. Spaces are limited so be sure to book ahead via our Box Office on 4224 5999.

Accessible seating will be available in a reserved section of the lawn. Wheelchair matting on the grass will allow easy access to the area from the footpath. This area is reserved seating and spaces are limited. Please booked in advance by calling our Box Office on 4224 5999.

Accessible toilets are onsite for patrons to access.
