Let’s talk about societal misconceptions, microaggressions, and attitudinal
barriers....but, In a fun way! A bold comedy that blends humour, music, and vulnerability to challenge ableism, explore self-acceptance, and celebrate inclusivity.
Disability is inevitable. It’s like Death and taxes. It comes for everyone. Much like hunger, love, and existential dread, disability is something we all experience in some way. So why not talk about it? Laugh about it? Sing silly little songs about it?
Dean Don't Dance explores the ever ongoing battle with internalised ableism using his relationship with musical theatre as the vessel for this discussion that is part silly little songs, part perspectival theatre, & part ted talk.
A bold, hilarious, and thought-provoking show. With sharp wit, catchy songs, and moments of real vulnerability, Dean invites you into his world, a world where societal expectations clash with his authentic self.
"Dean, Don’t Dance!" creatively integrates accessibility into the very fabric of the show. With audio description and Auslan interpretation embedded into the narrative, accessibility isn’t an add-on; it’s part of the story. This means everyone, regardless of access barriers, can engage fully with the performance.
