Join us in person or online for our second Access Ideas and Insights panel for 2023.

This innovative panel discussion delves into ‘Accessible Tech’, showcasing how leading Sydney venues ensure digital access for online and in-person audiences and visitors.

Digital producers Stuart Buchanan from the Sydney Opera House and Marcus Wright from the Museum of Contemporary Art will be joined by Sophie Penkethman-Young, the Manager of Digital Culture Initiatives at Australia Council for the Arts as they discuss the latest innovations in accessible technology. This engaging panel discussion will be MC’d by Gill Nicol, the Director of Audience Engagement at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

About the Speakers

Stuart Buchanan
Stuart is a cultural programmer, music curator and digital producer. As Head of Digital Programming at Sydney Opera House, Stuart is responsible for leading and curating their year-round digital program, including performance films, original commissions and interactive content for schools.

Marcus Wright
Marcus is Digital Producer, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander at the MCA. Marcus is a descendant of the Wiradjuri (Wiradyuri) and Gamilaraay (Gomeroi / Gamilaroi/ Kamilaroi) people’s hailing from the Central Western tablelands. Graduating from Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga in 2017 with a bachelor of acting and producing, he then became a research assistant at the same university, before moving onto Eastern Riverina Arts, and then the MCA. Marcus has consistently engaged with the Community to revitalise the arts.

Sophie Penkethman-Young
Sophie is the Manager Digital Culture Initiatives Australia Council for the Arts. She gained a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the Australian National University School of Art & Design in 2013 and completed her Honours at The Sydney College of Arts, University of Sydney in 2014. She is also one part of interdisciplinary show makers WHPY and has had solo exhibitions at Airspace Projects (2019), Sydney, Seventh Gallery (2019), Melbourne and Verge Gallery (2021), Sydney.

Gill Nicol (MC)
Gill has worked for over 30 years with contemporary art and audiences across the UK. She is the Director of Audience Engagement at the MCA, striving to make contemporary art as accessible as possible, for as many people as possible.
