This event has been co-designed with members of the deaf community including students and professionals, and will be an exciting day of exploration and learning at the University of Melbourne’s Science Gallery. The program includes:
Throughout the day, you can expect to participate in Auslan-led tours of the EMERGENCE[Y] exhibition featuring an installation by students from Victorian College for the Deaf and Sunshine College with deaf artist Chelle Destefano, keynote forum with deaf/hard of hearing experts in climate change and the climate crisis, Deaf-led STEM activities for families including Makey Makey workshops and Auslan Storytime, introductory Auslan lesson by deaf Auslan teachers. Showcase of deaf organisations and emergency services supporting the deaf/hard of hearing community.
Science Gallery Cafe open for coffee and lunch, staffed by deaf student baristas from Victorian College for the Deaf’s Tradeblock Cafe.

Interpreters will be working the entire event. All of the activities on the day will be delivered in Auslan and English.
Venue Access
Driving: Street parking is available nearby. Alternatively, Ace Parking is across the road.
Train: The nearest train station is Parkville, use station exit 1 on Grattan Street.
Tram: The nearest tram stop is Stop 1 Melbourne University on routes 1, 3, 3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 & 72.
Bus: Bus routes 402 and 202 stop nearby on Grattan Street and Swanston Street.
Bicycle: Bike parking is available outside our main entrance on Grattan Street.
