Out Hear provides new opportunities for expression and connection in the community through personalised and tailored music and sound recording programs, especially for people who experience disability and other barriers to access. More than merely improving access and participation in music, Out Hear seeks to amplify the vital and diverse voices in the community, offering opportunities to create, record, and publish original audio work.
Programs are led by Dale Gorfinkel who brings passion and many years of experience as a community engaged artist and facilitator. Dale has worked extensively in the Disability community and is continuously inspired by the creativity and vitality of the people he meets. He is highly skilled in connecting with others and helping them realise their ambitions as well as helping to open up new opportunities. He has worked with participants to produce exhibitions, events, video and audio presentations, online archives and merchandise. He is also experienced across artistic mediums including animation, wearable art, sculpture, performance, video and music. For many years Dale has also facilitated programs with young people, in schools, with refugee and migrant communities.
Partnerships include Arts Access Victoria, Austin Hospital, Arts Project Australia, Yooralla, Onemda, Merri-bek Council, Regional Arts Victoria, St Martin's Youth Theatre, City of Yarra, The Song Room, and Asylum Seekers Resource Centre.
