Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra Chao Feng Chinese Orchestra was established in 1982 in Melbourne. It is a non-profit, independent organisation and is also the largest and longest running Chinese orchestra in Australia. “Chao” means beginning or to initiate, and “Feng” is an ancient word for culture and music. Its aim is to promote traditional Chinese culture and music in Australia. The orchestra stages its own concerts in Melbourne and has been active in providing entertainment for main stream multicultural events, community events, schools, charity events and private functions. It is also active in making cultural exchanges with other Chinese orchestras from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Shanghai. Today, Chao Feng has 50+ members, and most of them are young members.
